High Street, Maidstone, early 1900’s ©grimcrimesandunfortunateevents

Maidstone is the county town of Kent, and like most towns in England, it has a wealth of unknown history. The purpose of this website is to share some of the less known historical crimes and unfortunate events that have happened in the town and surrounding villages, prior to 1950 and hence share the histories of  men and women, not usually found in the history books; those who may have committed petty crimes or succumbed to unfortunate events, the events that add to our family histories, and have long been forgotten.
